This is The Red Queen, a historical fiction book written by Philippa Gregory.  The very famous Margaret Beaufort, the founder of the Tudor dynasty and the grandmother of the infamous Henry VIII.  The woman that gave birth at age twelve and had the grit and backbone to put her son on the throne (Henry VII) and become mother to a King of England.
