I suggest you read The HItchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy if you are familar with the conventions of Science Fiction because it’s a funny parody and nerds of a certain age like to reference it often. π
One vote for Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. We’ll see if anyone else comments and leaves a vote, otherwise, the Hitchhiker’s Guide it is.
Thank you for commenting Mr. Bard,
*hugs*
I go along with IgnobleBard: The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is an absolute MUST READ, one of the most intelligent and inventive parodies I ever read (I’m one of those nerds of a certain age ;)).
Thank for stopping by ShedragonXXL. π
Another vote for the Hitchhiker’s guide is recorded.
I agree — and certainly you should read the first Hitchhiker’s Guide. They went progressively downhill, I thought, but they’re definitely worth reading.
Thank you Clodia!
Another Vote for Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Yikes! It’s the whole five books collection I have to read π
you should read the selfish gene, you should also add some cyberpunk books to your queue! π
Thanks for commenting Klafka.
Send me some cyberpunk books you don’t want anymore π
I honestly have not heard of half these books, however I am totally down with this. I haven’t spent nearly enough time reading lately π So I’d love to read with you, just let me know what you decide on π
Thank you for stopping by π
You can see my little picture on my Avatar, in case you were curious. So far I have one vote for “The Selfish Gene” and one for “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.” I’ll let you know what the outcome is. π
*hugs*
Catcher in the Rye was a good book; I tittered through most of it in spite of the sad theme.
Hey Binky, thank you for stopping by π
A vote for Catcher in the Rye is recorded.

Finish Wide Sargasso Sea. It’s worth it. For the unread books, i suggest On Writing. I assume that’s by Stephen King. It doesn’t have a whole lot of technical advice about writing, but it’s an interesting look into his mind.
Thank you Randy. One vote for Wide Sargasso Sea and one for On Writing ( you are the only lucky one that gets two π )
ETA: On Writing is indeed by Stephen King. π
Hi, Viv!
I cannot help a lot with these – I have read only a few myself. A Brief History Of Time is very good, and Oliver Twist is a classic I can recommend. The Children Of Hurin I cannot recommend, as they did not give me much compared to what I already had read from Tolkien.
A book I am still recommending, although it is very old (and radically femistic, too) is Mary Daly’s Gyn/Ecology. Back when I was in my twenties, that book was a revelation to me. π
Otherwise, I have no recommendation yet, I fear.
Let’s say you have cast a vote for “A brief History of Time” and one for “Oliver Twist.”
Thank you for stopping by π
*hugs*
